Before you start
UniPass
To update your enrolment, you will need an active UniPass. If you do not have a UniPass, you will need to contact the IT Service Desk immediately to request issue of a new one or call them on +61 (2) 9385 1777.
Outstanding Fees and Charges
You must check that you have no outstanding fees or charges with UNSW. You can view your Fee Statement via myUNSW where you can also make payment.
HECS-HELP/FEE-HELP
HECS-HELP or Fee paying students who wish to change their method of payment should update their details on myUNSW. Alternatively, you can contact Student Services Office and request the HECS-HELP/FEE-HELP form to be sent to you.
Choosing your courses
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are correctly enrolled and that the course(s) will count towards your program.
Students must enrol in the correct course(s) for their program:

Bachelor of Taxation students must enrol in courses with codes ATAX00** or ATAX06** (Note: prerequisite applies for some courses)

Masters students must enrol in courses with codes ATAX04**

Graduate Diploma students must enrol in courses with codes ATAX03**, students in Graduate Diploma in Taxation and Financial Planning may also enrol in FINS**** and LAWS**** courses as specified in the Program Structure for the program

Graduate Diploma in Taxation Studies students must enrol in courses with codes ATAX01**

Check if the course has prerequisites and whether you satisfy the prerequisites.

Postgraduate students should note that ATAX0416 - Current Research Problems in Taxation and ATAX0429 - International Tax Research are restricted to Masters students who have completed at least 24 Units of Credit at the Masters level and have achieved credit average or better in those courses.

Postgraduate students on a qualifying program who pass the qualifying course will roll over to the full program (Master of Taxation [Program code: 9250], Master of International Taxation [Program code: 9255], Master of Applied Taxation [Program code: 9260], Master of Taxation and Financial Planning [Program code: 9270], Graduate Diploma in Advanced Taxation [Program code: 5540] or or Graduate Diploma in Taxation and Financial Planning [Program code: 5272], after the release of results

Things you need to know
Study load:
Full-time load: Four (4) courses per semester.
Part-time load: Two (2) courses per semester.
Part-time students wishing to exceed this load will be required to seek permission in writing from their Program Convenor. You will not be able to enrol for more than two courses (12 Units of Credit) on myUNSW – you will need to contact the Student Services Office for assistance.
International students
International students studying in Australia on a Student Visa are required to enrol in a full-time course of study. You must enrol in face-to-face classes or intensive short course classes. International students studying in their country of residence may enrol in distance mode of study.

Enrolling in courses on myUNSW
All enrolment and variations to enrolment, variations to address or other contact details is done online through myUNSW, the web interface to UNSW's student information system.
Enrolment instructions are available on each page of the enrolment panels on myUNSW.

You must ensure you complete each of the following steps:

Update your Personal Details, if applicable

Review your courses and amend your enrolment as required

Complete your enrolment by the due date so that study materials are dispatched to reach you by Week 0

As enrolment time is usually a demanding time on myUNSW systems, it is recommended that students enrol early, and/or at less busy times e.g. before 8am or after 8pm.

The speed at which the site will operate depends on the connection speed provided by your ISP. Try not to open too many other web pages or applications at the same time.

For increased security on the myUNSW site, connections will expire after a delay of a few minutes of inactivity. This ensures that the information on screen is not visible to others if you are away from your computer.
Leave of Absence and Withdrawal
If you wish to apply for Leave of Absence or withdraw from your program entirely, please download and complete the Program Withdrawal and Leave Application (SA2). You can return the form to Atax by fax or mail, to reach Atax on or before the appropriate deadline. Please note the deadlines on myUNSW to apply for Leave of Absence or withdraw from a course without financial or academic penalty.
Study Materials for your course
Your Study Materials will be sent to the mailing address you supplied on myUNSW. If you wish to change your current mailing address, you must update your Personal Details on myUNSW.
Your Study Materials is also available electronically on my eLearning Vista from Week 0 of the semester.
