Previous Positions
Prior to coming to Australia, Maurice had practiced law as
a partner in a leading law firm in Auckland and a consultant
to a London law firm with many large, international clients.
After moving to Sydney, he was for many years a senior partner
with Minter Ellison Solicitors, specialising in the areas
of corporate finance and commercial law. After several years
in the banking department of one of the leading law firms
in London, he joined Atax as a senior lecturer. He also held
part-time lecturing positions with several universities in
New Zealand and was a visiting Professor in finance and banking
at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Awards and Achievements
Maurice has taken an active interest in the community and
was largely responsible for the establishment of the Masters
of Law degree in Finance and Banking at the University of
Technology, Sydney. He was also a trustee of the Committee
for the Economic Development of Australia. He played a prominent
role in establishing the official training program for legal
executives for the legal profession in New Zealand. More recently,
Maurice has contributed to the research work on the taxation
drivers of corporate management commissioned by the Tax Office.

Summary of Publications
Maurice’s recent publications include the textbook Tax and
Corporate Finance into the New Millennium and articles on
the debt and equity regime for corporate finance, currency
swap arrangements, and Part IVA anti-avoidance in refereed
journals in Australia.
