Previous Positions
Prior to joining Atax in February 2000, Shirley was a lecturer in the School of Accounting at UNSW with 15 years of teaching experience both at undergraduate and masters level. Before becoming an academic, Shirley worked as a chartered accountant in both large and medium sized audit firms.

Summary of Publications
Since joining Atax, Shirley has published refereed articles in leading accounting journals. She has co-authored a recently published, first-year textbook, Accounting: building business skills. This well-received book is being revised for a second edition.

Other
Shirley has been actively involved in a project entitled “Analysis of the impact of record-keeping systems and practices in the problem of tax compliance for the small business sector” funded by a CPA Australia Small Business Grant. She has also contributed to the development and delivery of Compliance Officers Applied Audit and Accounting Program (COAAAP).

Shirley is currently the Academic Support Coordinator and was responsible for the Tax Office cadets at Atax.
