| Celebrating graduation at the Australian School of Taxation
Chancellor, Mr David Gonski AC welcomed graduates to the ceremony and Professor David Dixon, Dean of the Faculty admitted candidates to awards. The Occasional Address was given by Mr John Green, Board Member and former Executive Director at Macquarie Group Foundation.
Graduates gathered together on the university lawns before the ceremony, catching up with each other and their lecturers. Among them were the 'Four amigos', a self-named group of four graduates from Queensland who had supported each other during years of studying for their taxation degree.
Working together in the Australian Taxation Office, the graduates recalled their decision to further their education in tax and enrol to study by distance with Atax.
'It really is a thrill to be here today and we are all so proud of each other,' he said.
Head of the Australian School of Taxation, Professor Neil Warren joined with Professor Dixon in congratulating all of the graduating tax students on their achievements and thanked the graduates' families, friends and academic staff for the support they have given the students over the years.
